I went to the doctor last week. He said he will give me clearance to return to our mission when I can walk a mile without a cane and go up and down stairs. He thinks that will be late February or March.
Will we return to our original calling? We hope so, but are not sure. Things have changed a bit there lately and they may not need a second couple, only a replacement couple in October. We really don't want to wait that long. We do have to resubmit our papers, but it is a vastly shorter process. We still don't have any idea what is going on with our visas. The mission office in SLC is looking into matters for us.
It's all good. Good things have happened while we've been home and we were here to participate: Leslie's wedding, Michael's priesthood ordination, Casey and Tehvyn's blessings, to name a few. The choice of a nursing home for Mother and the responsibility of moving her there was much less of a traumatic experience for our children because we were here to facilitate the decisions.
Heavenly Father knows what He is doing. We trust Him and His decisions completely. Whatever happens, it looks like sometime in spring we will finally be able to go on our mission.
